Profile - Tina Bootsma - Director/Owner - Manager at Wiltse…

Tina BootsmaTina started her career in the eighties with an Early Childhood Educator’s certificate as well as a diploma in Youth and Childcare through Douglas College in New Westminster.
She began working with children in the Vancouver school district; owning and operating her own licensed family daycares in Burnaby and then later in Naramata; then directing the Naramata Preschool; working for the Penticton school district; directing the Junior Kindergarten program at Glenfir private school and operating and directing Dunstan House Preschool and Daycare for 15 years in Penticton.
Tina first established the Kids Connection preschool and afterschool program at Uplands school in 2000 and then expanded to include a Junior Kindergarten program at Wiltse School in 2011.
Her most recent expansion includes the Kids Connection program at Yorkton Avenue, which was a year in the making after having to prove to the city as well as the neighbors in the area that a childcare center was needed in this affluent and primarily senior’s residential area.
Kids Connection at Yorkton was opened in September 2015 and the neighborhood has seen a beautiful and happy transformation of a common house to a lively, bright and well run childcare center.
Tina is a strong child advocate, donating to needs of individual children and several child organizations, including Vancouver Children’s Hospital and Penticton Hockey clubs and churches in her community.   Tina’s philosophy is “to teach a child you must understand the thoughts and feelings of a child” she shows this enthusiasm when directing her classes and staff at her centers.

In her down time Tina enjoys spending time with her family and husband, Richard, boating, hiking, gardening and travelling.
